Founded in 1915, Tarrytown was known as the place “where oak trees charm the eye,” a slogan which has only become more true as time goes on and the trees grow. Beautiful and nature-filled, the town possesses three main parks: Reed Park, Triangle Park, and West Enfield Park. Each of these parks carries its own charms, from streams and trails to baseball fields and pools.

Covering 21 acres, the Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve allow guests to experience a wildlife habitat through relaxing walking trails. Free-roaming peacocks wander the grounds, sit in the trees, and lie in the gardens. Covering 59 acres, the Johnson Creek Greenbelt provides guests with picnic spaces, hiking trails, and beautiful surroundings. A paved trail and bridge go from Enfield Road to Lady Bird Lake, covering about a mile, while the Johnson Creek Trailhead crosses two miles through a unique terrain.
West Enfield Neighborhood Park is a neighborhood park with lovely, tall trees. It provides tennis courts, walking trails, a playground, and a swimming pool. Deep Eddy Municipal Pool, the oldest swimming pool in the state, was built in 1915. Although man-made, the pool is filled by nearby cold springs.
Opened in 1924 and one of Austin’s top golf courses, the Lions Municipal Golf Course has hosted a multitude of famous golfers, including Sandra Haynie and Ben Hogan. The Firecracker Open, the state’s oldest amateur tournament, is played here, and the course is in the Texas Golf Hall of fame.
